Alpena Man Charged With Breaking into Home on Halloween
An Alpena man is accused of breaking into a home on Halloween.
State police were called to a home in Alpena Township on Oct. 31. They say the homeowner was returning from trick-or-treating with her kids—when she recognized a man leaving the house. She identified him as James Tanner.
The homeowner told troopers she yelled Tanner’s name and he ran away.
State police found a damaged debit card at the scene with James Tanner’s name. Troopers believe he used it to jimmy the door lock.
An arrest warrant was issued for Tanner in November, but he was already lodged in the Kent County jail at the time for unrelated charges.
Tanner was arraigned on March 4 for one count of home invasion of the second degree.
