The president and Senate Democrats are looking to change parts of the COVID-19 relief package that cleared the House.
The two parties are looking to tighten income limits that would send $1,400 per-person stimulus checks.
The change to the $1.9 trillion relief bill is a major concession to moderates.
The version backed by President Biden says only individuals earning $75,000 and under or couples earning $160,000 and under will receive stimulus checks.
The House-approved version capped the income limits for individuals at $100,000 and for couples at $200,000.
This comes as Senate Democrats also announced plans to keep the $400 weekly emergency jobless benefits that were in a House-approved version of the legislation.
