Michigan’s COVID-19 Status: The Numbers at Individual Hospitals

One major concern during the coronavirus pandemic has been to not overwhelm our hospital systems.

Munson Medical Center in Traverse City is treating 35 patients with COVID-19. Ten of those patients are in the ICU and 60% of their beds are full.

Spectrum Health in Big Rapids is treating six patients with the virus. Two of them are in the ICU and the hospital is at 72% capacity.

And McLaren Northern Michigan in Petoskey is treating 10 cases of the virus. All of them are in the ICU with the hospital at 47% capacity.

But things are worse downstate. As of Monday, 14 Michigan hospitals were more than 90% full.

  • Covenant Healthcare in Saginaw is treating 161 patients; 30 of them are in the ICU and the hospital is at 91% capacity.
  • Henry Ford Macomb Hospital is also at 91% capacity. They have 98 COVID-19 patients; 15 of them are in the ICU.
  • And Spectrum Health Butterworth in Grand Rapids is treating 56 patients with the virus; 22 of them are in the ICU and 71% of its beds are full.
