Cheboygan Main Street DDA Hosts ‘Light Up Local’ Initiative for Community, Businesses and Organizations

Tree decorating is one of the biggest holiday traditions, and one local business community decided to take that tradition to help bring a little joy, charity, and ‘light’ this holiday season.

Hosted by the in Cheboygan, ‘Light Up Local’ features 30 Christmas trees that had been sponsored, and creatively decorated by local businesses families, and organizations.

Originally the goal was for 20 trees to be decorated along Main Street, but due to the overwhelming response, they decided to add an additional 10 trees to Festival Square.

One tree has been sponsored as “” and is decorated with hats, mittens, and essentials for those in need.

“It makes me proud of the community,” says Katie Duczkowski from Main Street DDA. “It shows that our community has a lot of spirit, and even in this difficult time when many people are struggling in different ways, many are still looking to give back to their community. Just come down and enjoy the lights, check out all of our small businesses that we have downtown. We have a lot of business owners who are excited to see you, and help you find the perfect holiday gift.”

‘Light Up Local’ in Dowtown Cheboygan will be running through the entire month of December.
