J&S Hamburg on South Airport Road launched an effort called “Project Feed the Kids.” The goal is to provide meals to kids in need, and to families that need extra help, especially with many people out of work or seeing their hours cut due to the pandemic.

They say it’s even helped lift their own spirits as business is down this year. Tiffany McQueer says, “It’s very hard. We’re down about 70%. But for us it’s great to give back to the community.” McQueer says the kids’ meals come on top of the food they already deliver to frontline workers at Munson hospital. “(We’re) still able to help feed kids, still able to help feed Munson. That’s the ‘feels.’ The feel-good about it.”

J&sThis week J&S surpassed 20,000 meals – a milestone McQueer is proud of. “We’re over 20,000 meals now. So it’s just amazing.  The support of the community has been amazing. We’re doing big things. The need is still there. We’re still doing about 700 meals a weekend, every weekend.”

If you’d like to help you can visit J&S on South Airport Road, or check out their Facebook page for details here. J&S is also selling shirts, hoodies, and onesies to raise money for the project.
