Man Accused of Shooting, Killing 3 People in Elberta Charged With Open Murder

The man accused of shooting and killing three people in Benzie County has officially been charged.

Wednesday afternoon, Robert Michael Freebold was charged with three counts of open murder.

He is accused of killing Marilyn Freebold, Robert James Freebold and Malachi Maloney.

We brought you live to the scene last Friday.

That’s when the sheriff’s office was called out to a home on Grand Avenue in Elberta.

There, they found four people with injuries. Three of them had gunshot wounds.

Two people died at the scene.

A third died at the hospital a little later.

Robert Michael Freebold will be back in court December 10.
