Green Acres Cadillac Celebrates National Assisted Living Week with a Creative Challenge
September 13-19, is officially National Assisted Living Week, and one local retirement center celebrated with a fun and creative contest. Michelle Dunaway was at Green Acres of Cadillac to help them wrap up the week by being a judge for their “Door Decor Challenge”, and here are the top three winners.
- “An Ode to Christmas” – a beautiful paper Christmas Tree, that belonged to Anna Mercier.
- “October Fun!” – Fran Peterson’s door had a Halloween and Tiger Baseball theme.
- “The Great Outdoors” – Bonnie Brauch decorated her door with things that mean the most to her, her family, their cabin, and the outdoors.
All of the winners get a special lunch with the staff member who helped decorate their doors.
“The doors were all so amazing, and it was hard to pick just three,” said Michelle. “Kudos to the staff there and in so many other retirement communities that are doing so many things to involve residents, and make life a little more fun!”.
The staff at Green Acres of Cadillac are continuing their mission to keep our aging community connected by asking for letters and cards dedicated to thier residents. “It’s been hard with them not being able to get in-person visits from family members,” said Heather Murkowski. “We want people to keep on sending those cards and loving messages to our residents. It is making a difference and uplifting their spirits”.
You can send a special card, pictures, children’s artwork, etc. to:
