Good Reads from Brilliant Books: ‘One Year at Ellsmere’ by Faith Erin Hicks
In today’s reading recommendations from Brilliant Books, we meet a graphic novel character who finds herself at the crossroads of her studies, friendship, bullies, and something magical while attending her new school. Friend of the Four, Anthony Ascione gives us all of the adventurous details.
“In One Year at Ellsmere by Faith Erin Hicks, the main character has to go through changing to a different school, and then becomes the target of a group of mean girls,” Anthony said. “With all of that going on, there’s a twist, and something a little magical may be living in the forest on the edges of the school grounds”.
“It’s a really fun graphic novel for the “Y” and middle school grade set,” according to Anthony. He describes it as a fun mystery with a good lesson about forgiveness, but it’s “okay” to get a little angry sometimes.
