Menu Monday: James Perry Catering & Fuel Your Tomorrow Meal Prep Cafe
When it comes to fine dining and the look of an entree, James Perry Catering takes complete pride in the presentation. The overall appearance of their dishes could be considered artwork and for owners, Kaylee and Kelsi Davenport, they pour their heart and soul into each recipe.
The women are also the founders of Fuel Your Tomorrow or FYT meal prep cafe in the Village of Grand Traverse Commons in Traverse City. Just six months ago they decided to add the catering business to their resume, which also resides in the Village of Grand Traverse Commons.
They’re known for creating dishes and working with wineries or cideries to creating pairings for private events.
“People come to us mainly for a private chef and home caterings, and then wine pairing so we pretty much taste a flight of wines that we want to introduce to a crowd, and I go ahead and pair a really wacky menu to it. When it comes down to it I like working with crazy ingredients and random foods that people don’t normally hear of and putting them together to showcase a wine is by far my favorite thing to do in the world,” says co-owner and executive chef, Kaylee Davenport.
The culinary staff also has a passion for connecting with the community and creating a memorable experience for people who are trying their food for the first time. This includes partnering with businesses like Left Food Charley in their new socially distanced tasting area, The Barrel Room in the Village of Grand Traverse Commons.
“We do that a lot with Left Food Charlie in The Barrel Room, and then these private in-home chef caterings are very intimate dinners upscale by dining and just a really
beautiful experience their food,” says Davenport.
