Menu Monday: Sugar2Salt Maintains Community Connections Despite Unique Changes This Summer
It’s imperative that restaurants get creative and think outside the box this summer with the ongoing pandemic. That’s exactly what S2S or Sugar2Salt is focused on and making happen.
The restaurant and catering service nestled in the Village of Grand Traverse Commons in Traverse City has its indoor dining area closed to the public, but is doing pick up service and outdoor seating.
“As things started to change back in March, we understood that we were going to have to make a strong pivot and work through some of the challenges of how we are going to provide our services,” says co-owner, Stephanie Wiitala.
Despite having to switch gears, the business is still dedicated to its community approach.
“We are very locally and seasonally inspired here at Sugar2Salt. We love supporting our community and we do that by buying ingredients as much as we possibly can from this area. We work with local distributors like Charity Capital Foods, and we have great relationships with many vendors you would recognize from the farm markets,” says Wiitala.
If you would like to place an order from Sugar2Salt, you can call ahead and then pick up your food from the take-out window in front of the building.
Wiitala says if you have a special request, she recommends people calling ahead just to make sure staff have the ingredients on hand for your entree or dessert.
