Artist Profile: Lindy Bishop
Northern Michigan painter, Lindy Bishop, hopes to celebrate the land, what grows on it, and how it feeds us through her artwork. We learned more about her in this edition of ‘Artist Profile’.
Who are you?
“I’m Lindy Bishop, and I grew up right here in Elk rapids, but I now live in Traverse City.”
What was your inspiration?
“When I was a little kid, I was surrounded by art, most importantly, my mother was a local artist, Joni Braun. She was always painting and sketching and she would have a sit for her for portraits, and being surrounded by art. I lived among artists, and it just kind of effect on me.”
What is your favorite medium?
“Mostly oil. I do use acrylic once in a while, especially for things that are outdoors and, you know, not as much mass, I want to do things quickly. And, I also use acrylic as usually as a base layer of tones and composition.”
“I hope that it helps them sit still with a moment in time of beauty I suppose that kind of connects people to a sense of well being.”
