A new executive order extends water shutoff protections through the end of this year.

The initial order was signed in late March and approved a water service restoration grant.

The governor’s office says its crucial families can have access to clean water for washing hands and cleaning.

Both are essential for fighting COVID-19.

This comes as a new law was signed last week.

The law included $25 million for the state to reimburse utilities for past due bills and a partial rebate on water for eligible customers.
