Have you ever wondered how or why “zero” was created? Author, David Foster Wallace explores this very important number in his book Everything and More: A Compact History of Infinity.
“It’s part history, part philosophy, part love letter to the study of mathematics,” explained Anthony. “We seem to take ‘zero’ for granted, and this is just a fascinating story that dives deep into the roots of this number”. Anthony stresses that this is not a textbook, and the way it is written puts you on the edge of your seat.
The book also goes into great detail about how infinity and zero revolutionized the world of mathematical theory.
“How often do you read a book about zero?” Anthony asked. “I think there’s this conception that zero means nothing and this book certainly proves that zero means a lot more”.
