Keeping the Tradition Alive: The 8th Annual Blessing of the Fleet

There’s no better way to social distance, and celebrate summer, than to be out in the open water. And – The 8th Annual Blessing of the Fleet is a great excuse to go boating this year while enjoying Blessing The Fleetthe beauty of the Little Traverse Bay Area. This ‘traditional parade’ is presented by the Harbor Springs Area Historical Society HSAHS and will take place on Thursday, July 2 at 6 PM to 8 PM.

“Traditions do live on in Harbor Springs,” said executive director of HSAHS, Kristyn Balog. “We did move the date to July 2, it allowed us to get more boats in the water, and allowed our community to participate”.

Some of the festivities have been modified or left out to follow current safety and health standards – including events on the Main City Pier, and the Summer Launch Party. To carry on with the fun, many local restaurants will be offering specials for takeout, and merchants will be selling decor to help boaters make their ships more festive.

For those who are bringing their own vessel, they will need to register it here or call 231-526-9771.

For those without a watercraft, they have a ‘choose to cruise’ paid option aboard the Isle Royale Queen or enjoy a complimentary kayak from The Outfitter.

Reservations are required for all of the events, and options. Click here, for more information.
