Amazing Northern Michigan Homes: Palaestrum Road on Chain of Lakes

For the last three months, we’ve shown you previously recorded amazing homes across our area, but now we’re getting back inside some Amazing Northern Michigan Homes.

Whitney Amann and photojournalist Jeremy Erickson take you to a beautiful lake home on the Chain of Lakes in Grand Traverse County.

“We are at the shores of Palaestra which is at the southwest corner of Elk Lake, just about eight miles to Downtown Traverse City, great location,” said Don Fedrigon, real estate broker for RE/MAX.

An incredible setting for a gorgeous home.

This lovely lakeside home sits on just over a half acre of land and is stacked from floor to ceiling with stunning features.

“It’s 4,000 square feet, four bedrooms, four baths, beautiful raised ceilings with stone fireplace, open floor plan, very nice,” said Don. “Kitchen choreography designed kitchen with wolf, cove, subzero appliances.”

The master suite on the main floor boasts amazing views of crystal clear Elk Lake from the bedroom.

The master bath has his-and-hers sinks, a luxurious, jetted, soaking tub and a beautifully tiled shower.

There is also an attached office when there is work to be done.

Once you make your way upstairs, there is a cozy space overlooking the living room to relax and enjoy views of the lake.

He said “you have a loft that’s right between the two upstairs suites and just a nice view for a place to sit with a book and read.”

Both suites are equipped with their own private bathrooms and walk in closets.

One of those walk-ins doubles as the entrance to a generous sized room that could be used as an extra bunk room or serve as a rec room.

The outdoor space only adds to the appeal of this amazing home with its screened in sunroom and exquisite porcelain patio.

“We’ve got a secluded cove here with nature conservancy land to the north and 26 acres of common area,” he said. “Its 100 feet on Elk Lake, sandy frontage, viewing sunrises. Just a nice view of the narrows between Elk and Skegemog and there’s a small patio down by the dock and your own private frontage. It’s a great spot close to Traverse City but yet on the Chain of Lakes.”
