Exposures: Leelanau County Student Artist Showcase

There are so many talented young artists and writers here in Northern Michigan and Leelanau county is featuring them in the 32nd annual Exposures magazine. Each year young creators from Exposures Ll Pkg 4around the county submit their work to be published in the Leelanau County journal. Students in grades 7-12 are encouraged to enter this competition. This year, of course, looked a little different for everyone involved.

The showcase went virtual and the students were asked to explain their art and share their inspiration for the piece. Donna Popke, the editor for Exposure says, “for us, it’s really cool because we don’t ever get to really hear how they feel about what they do. So I think this is a really wonderful addition and something that will go on in future years.”

They are putting the call out for young artists to submit their work. It’s a great process to be apart of and a learning experience.
