Archangel Ancient Tree Archive is a nonprofit in Copemish dedicated to propagating, refreshing, and archiving ancient trees around the world. This small Northern Michigan warehouse has become a global spotlight for climate change and pandemic solutions. This is the first and only group in the world to successfully clone the largest and oldest trees— creating a living library of “Champion Trees”.

Another big part of what they do at this nonprofit is educating students and adults from around the world. This year they collaborated with Frankfort Middle school 6th graders. They took on the responsibility of planting Black Willow trees to help support the great Lakes Watershed.

Rylan, a 6th-grade student who participated in this opportunity says, “He (David Milarch, founder of Archangel) wanted to plant tons of trees around the world so we wanted to help the plant by adding what is the black Willow. It’s a tree that can help filter water and clean it better and age fish and it can give you shade.”
