Preston Feather: Dressing the Table with Grazing Goodies

In previous segments with , we’ve been focusing on home design and decor. This time we are decorating and designing the dining table with some sweet and savory treats, and grazing goodies.

Design gurus, Tricia Keller and Dana Lacuesta say the first thing we need is something to put the food on. They recommend using a wooden board, preferably oak, that can be as long or as short as you need it. It acts as a nice background to the colorful food that will be placed on top of it.

Then, take some of your favorite bottles of wine and place them apart to create sections. The key is to match the wines that complement the flavors you are using.

Next, add some deli meats and cheeses from your local deli counter. Don’t get too fancy, the point is to have fun and treat yourself. You can use soft and hard cheeses such as goat or swiss cheese. Again, when placing these on the board, try to put them near the wine it should be paired with.

Tricia and Dana recommend adding a few fresh herbs to the mix – like mint or rosemary. It helps balance out the strong smells from cheese and adds more color.

Then, add your crackers and bread to the tray to finish the spread.  The great thing about doing a grazing table is it pleases all your senses.
