Grand Traverse Co. Officials Looking for Man Who Offered Fake COVID-19 Testing

In Grand Traverse County, police and fire officials are on the lookout for a man who was offering fake COVID-19 testing over the weekend.

The Grand Traverse Metro Fire Chief says the man was set up near U.S. 31 and Four Mile Road Sunday, but was gone when investigators arrived.

He claimed to be working with the fire service, but didn’t specify which agency he represented.

He was apparently charging people for the COVID-19 testing, but Metro Fire says it’s a scam.

Legitimate testing is announced by the health department, hospitals and clinics, or other official agencies.
