U.P. National Guard Recruiters Train for ‘The Murph Challenge’

In honor of fallen Navy Lieutenant, Michael Murphy – a ‘workout’ challenge was created to help raise money for a good cause.Mmmurph

Since 2014, ‘The Murph Challenge’ has been done each Memorial Day, and includes a 2-mile run, 100 pull-ups, 200 push-ups, 300 squats – but, it must be done wearing a 20-lb vest or body armor.

This was Murphy’s daily workout.

This Memorial Day, 2 Upper Peninsula National Guard Recruiters are challenging each other to do it – Sgt. Heather Drake, and Sgt. Shiloh Sumbera.

We were able to catch up with them and learn more about their training techniques.
