Consumers Energy Offering ‘Free’ Energy Efficient Thermostats to Customers

Over the past few months, there has been an increase in home energy usage due to the COVID-19 crisis. With many families stuck at home – appliances, lighting, and heating/cooling are in overdrive causing electrical/gas bills to increase. Thankfully, Consumers Energy has partnered up with Google and Uplight to help homeowners combat excessive energy use with their thermostat replacement initiative. 

Currently, up to 100,000 households will be able to receive programmable and energy-efficient Nest thermostats at no cost. 

“This offer is part of Consumers Energy’s Clean Energy Plan, which will eliminate coal and achieve net-zero carbon emissions. Google and Uplight are helping Consumers Energy provide the Google Nest Thermostat E to customers through July 31.”

Residents who do not have compatible heating and cooling systems with Google Nest – can receive a free Consumers Energy Care Package – which includes:

  • LED Light Bulbs
  • 3 Night Lights
  • Peak Time Rewards Program
