The State House is scheduled tentatively to meet in Lansing for session next Tuesday for the first time in two weeks.

It is also the first time since Representative Tyrone Carter tested positive for COVID-19 and Representative Isaac Robinson died from suspected COVID-19.

Both Democrats from Detroit, the hardest hit area in the state, the pair sat on the same side of the House chambers.

Representative Jack O’Malley sat on committees with both Carter and Robinson and says the news about their infections may help hammer home importance.

“I have a feeling that he would say, ‘You know what? Let’s not forget the other 131 that went before,’” says O’Malley, “His name was known. He was a good man but so were the others. I think everybody needs to take this seriously.”

O’Malley says he is not sure if voting procedures will change to limit everyone coming together at once or what is allowed. Legislative action will be needed to oversee some expiring executive decisions.
