UAW Pushing for Detroit Automakers to Shut Down Factories Over Coronavirus

The United Auto Workers union wants Detroit’s big three automakers to shut down their factories, but they say the companies disagree.

UAW President Rory Gamble says they’re pushing for a two-week shutdown to keep members safe from the coronavirus.

But Gamble says Ford, General Motors, and Fiat Chrysler weren’t willing to shut them down.

He says the union gave them two days to craft a plan, which is expected to be revealed at a meeting Tuesday evening.
