White House Expected to Announce New Coronavirus Guidelines

The White House’s coronavirus response team is expected to announce updated national guidelines Monday.

It comes after the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention issued new guidance on how to avoid contracting or spreading the illness.

It also urged organizers to cancel any large events and mass gatherings.

And the White House is calling on all Americans to do even more to isolate themselves and prevent the spread of the coronavirus.

“Right now, myself personally, I wouldn’t go to a restaurant,” says NIAID Director Dr. Anthony Fauci. “I just wouldn’t because I don’t want to be in a crowded place. I have an important job to do, I don’t want to be in a situation where I’m going to be all of a sudden self-isolating for 14 days.”

With many businesses, including restaurants, closing down, President Trump is calling on grocery chains to do what they can to keep shelves stocked for consumers.

Plus the United Kingdom and Ireland are being added to President Trump’s coronavirus travel ban.

The ban went into effect last week for 26 European countries, but it did not initially include the UK and Ireland.

There are also travel bans in place for China and Iran.

Now American travelers returning to the US from any of the countries under the ban will be required to undergo medical screenings.

That’s causing major backups at some of the largest US airports.

Massive lines formed at O’Hare International Airport in Chicago as hundreds of people waited for hours to complete their screenings.

It’s a process that’s causing concern for many travelers.
