Consumers Energy Suspends Power Shutoff for Low Income, Senior Customers

The coronavirus is shutting down all kinds of things in northern Michigan.

But Consumers Energy says they are lending help so that your power isn’t one of those things.

Consumers says with many people struggling, they have decided to suspend power shutoffs for low income and senior customers.

They say that suspension will go from March 16 until April 5 but say that time frame could be extended.

Customers already enrolled in their Winter Protection Program will have their dates extended until May 3.
