At just 14-years-old, Wesley Gibson from Cadillac has already overcome some of life’s greatest challenges. “He was born with several rare conditions. One is that he was born completely blind and the others were in his brain,” explains his mother, Janet Gibson.

However, Wesley is taking it all in stride. He has found simple joys and pleasures in life, like mastering the “Bop-It” or finishing a puzzle. Janet says, “He’s a happy kid. He’s healthy and so he doesn’t really understand that he’s disabled because he still does what he likes to do.”

One of those things he loves to do is get outside and go for a run with mom. “In the summers we like to do the 5ks for exercise more for me than him but he loves to go for rides and wants to go for bike rides and asks to do that,” explains Janet.

Just like any growing teen, Wesley has outgrown his previous adaptive stroller so the family decided to enter the Great Bike Giveaway and they need your help. Janet says, “I’ve been looking at these for a few years now and I knew the funding would be impossible to try to raise money for because they’re 3,000- 5,000 dollars.”

They are close to their fundraising goal of 3500 dollars but could use all the help they can get. Anything over $3,500 will help another child receive an adaptive bike or stroller.
