Michigan Settles Lawsuit with 1,300+ Juveniles Allegedly Sexually Assaulted in Prison

The State of Michigan is settling with several juveniles that say they were sexually assaulted while in prison.

The case was originally filed in 2013 on behalf of more than 1,300 young prisoners.

Under the settlement, the state will pay a total of $80 million in installments over the next three years.

Because the settlement is for a class action lawsuit, class members have the opportunity to opt-out of the settlement or object to what it contains.
