Gov. Whitmer Activates State Emergency Operations Center Amid Coronavirus Concerns

Governor Gretchen Whitmer has activated Michigan’s Emergency Operations Center in an effort to prevent the spread of Coronavirus.

The move will allow state, local and federal agencies to work together to fight the outbreak.

State officials say there are no confirmed cases of Coronavirus in Michigan right now, but Michiganders should take all necessary steps to protect themselves.

Governor Whitmer said in part,  “By activating the state Emergency Operations Center, we’re ensuring that every branch of state government is on alert, and actively coordinating to prevent the spread of Coronavirus if it comes to Michigan.”

The state’s chief medical executive says the threat is still very low, but Michigan needs to use all of its public health tools to keep everyone safe.
