Lansing lawmakers jumped in icy cold waters today to help raise money for Special Olympics.

A dozen legislators and more than 30 staffers took the plunge outside of the capital building, including Rep. Roger Hauck of Isabella and Midland counties.

Just today, they raised $34,000 for Michigan Special Olympics.

This season has been setting new records.

So far there have been 23 polar plunges. They’ve combined to raise roughly $1.1 million.

If you’d like to join in the fun, the next jump in northern Michigan will be at the Elks Club in Big Rapids.
