International Bridge Schedules Closure for First Nations Water Ceremony

The International Bridge in Sault Ste. Marie is closing from noon to 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 27.

It’s for a First Nations water ceremony being performed by tribal elders at the bridge’s halfway point. Bridge administrators say the closure is “in the spirit of goodwill, collaboration and reconciliation.”

Traffic will be barred from crossing on both the U.S. and Canadian sides of the bridge until the ceremony has ended.

Administrators ask travelers to plan around the closure.
