Newaygo Co. Deer Processor Inspected After Warm Freezer Full of Carcasses Found

A deer processor in Newaygo County is in trouble with both the DNR and the Department of Agriculture.

The DNR says they got a complaint about a deer not being returned to its owner.

Turns out the company was in the process of closing but hadn’t told its customers.

DNR officers say they found 13 deer in the freezer but the power had been shut off.

A food inspector later put the place on quarantine and took away the spoiled meat.

No charges have been announced.
