Northern Michigan Family Relocates Wedding to Father’s Hospital

Your wedding day is one of the biggest days of your life.

One Northern Michigan bride didn’t want her father to miss hers.

Jaslyn Kitchen was supposed to marry her fiancé Scott on Friday near their home in Cadillac.

But her father, Rick, had a stroke last month and has been recovering downstate.

Once it was clear he wouldn’t be able to come up for the event, his family brought the wedding to him.

The couple married at the Mary Free Bed Rehabilitation Hospital in Grand Rapids.

The change of plans was a total surprise for Rick.

The best part?

He was able to walk Jaslyn down the aisle.

“She’s been a daddy’s girl since the beginning. Daddy is a superhero, he can do everything,” says said Elizabeth Kitchen, Jaslyn’s mother.

Rick says, “It’s like any miracle, words can’t describe what this means”

To top it all off, the hospital’s music therapist learned to play “Daddy” by Abby Anderson on his guitar for the father-daughter dance.
