We have all heard of 5k and 10k runs and some of us have run in them, but how about a 3k run that takes you over mountains of snow and open fields of knee-deep powder?
Sault Sainte Marie is hosting the Inaugural Abominable 3k Challenge tomorrow at 9 a.m and with registration at 8 a.m.
It starts downtown at Gym 906 and the run goes through downtown, up and down piles and piles of snow, and through Brady Park.
Phillip Woolcocks said, “There are a couple of obstacles that are kind of knuckle-biters right now because the first person to attempt it is probably going to have some snow in their face. This is for all age groups. You can walk it if you want. The tricky thing to walking it though is every time you come to a stop sign or red light, you have to do jumping jacks until it’s clear for you to go. So, all age groups. It’s going to be a lot of fun!”
Anyone who finishes the race gets a t-shirt, a headband, and also bragging rights on completing the first-ever race like this in the Soo!
Half the money raised goes to Hospice and the other half will go towards future events.
