Habitat For Humanity, Mason Co. Starts First Veteran Build

Habitat for Humanity of Mason County celebrated their first veteran build this week.

Army veteran Fred Reader Jr. is the future homeowner of a property in Ludington.

On Monday, the community and people from the fire department where Reader volunteers came out to celebrate the groundbreaking of his new home.

Reader says he’s been looking for affordable housing since coming home from Afghanistan in 2014.

“It means a lot because it’s a place for my daughter and I to have something in the area, we have good strong family roots and it’ll keep up here for years to come,” says Reader.

Habitat for Humanity is a nonprofit that builds sustainable housing for people at an affordable price.
