Former MSU Gymnastics Coach Found Guilty of Lying to Police

Michigan State’s former gymnastics coach was found guilty of lying to police Friday afternoon.

Kathie Klages was found guilty on both counts of lying to investigators about her knowledge of former team doctor Larry Nassar’s sexual assaults.

Prosecutors said Klages denied receiving complaints about Nassar as early as 1997 because she wanted to protect herself.

Klages resigned in 2017 after being suspended.

She faces up to four years in prison when she’s sentenced in April.

Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel said, “Klages knew of Larry Nassar’s sexual misconduct but neglected to tell investigators. She could and should have acted on complaints about Larry Nassar decades ago.”
