Celebrating Art Beyond the Classroom at Crooked Tree Arts Center

Celebrating the artwork of students and acknowledging the dedication behind their art teachers, is the mission of a growing exhibit at the Crooked Tree Arts Center in Traverse City.  Elementary artwork through 12th grade is on display from various schools across northern Michigan through the Youth Arts Exhibit.

“What’s nice too is that is showcases the kids that may want to pursue this down the road, and it shows that there is that talent really on. It shows that there is talent and it gives the kids that little boost of confidence they might need. Then as they get older they can start to see how this is real and there is something that I can do here,” says Wodek.

At the high school level it’s showing students they can pursue a career beyond the classroom with art and that their talents can help them gain art scholarships. Some students have received awards and are even acknowledging art scholarships at the college level.

The exhibit in Traverse City is on display through Mar. 14.
