It’s student count day for the state of Michigan.

This is worrying many districts as several schools across Northern Michigan battle illness.

The state will in large part determine funding for schools based on Wednesday’s attendance.

Many schools in Northern Michigan say they are underfunded, making today an especially important day.

But right now, the majority of schools in the state are experiencing large scale illness.

We have three schools in our viewing area closed due to illness Wednesday. Schools that close because of conditions they cannot control can get permission to count the next they are are in session.
