Woman Accused of Starting 2018 House Fire in Kalkaska County
More than a year after fire destroyed a Kalkaska County home, police arrested the person they say purposely started the fire.
Police were called out to the fire in Kalkaska Township.
A firefighter was hurt while rescuing the woman inside, and that woman had to be taken to the hospital.
After an investigation, state police say Gretchen VanOrmer started the fire.
She was the woman hurt in the fire.
Police say a K-9 detected the use of an accelerant in the living room.
VanOrmer is charged with first-degree arson.
She could spend life in prison if convicted.
