Hook & Hunting: DNR Licensing

Soon there will be a new and more convenient way to buy your hunting and fishing licenses in the state of Michigan.

After 26 years, the Michigan DNR is launching a whole new program.

The updated technology will simplify the process of buying and renewing licenses for both the customer and the retailer.

It includes a new bar code scanner to scan driver’s licenses to pull up all of the customer’s information.

The DNR says this is a major upgrade from the old system.

“We’ll have a brand new web presence where customers can buy their hunting and fishing licenses online and majority of the licenses they buy online, they can actually print the license off at home or even save them to their smart phone,” said Tom Weston, the Chief Technology Officer for Michigan DNR.

The new system will be up and running on Feb. 18 at noon, both online and in stores.
