They say Breakfast is the most important meal of the day and at Alba Public School they agree. Students look forward to each Friday not only because it concludes the school week but because they get a warm, homemade breakfast courtesy of their faculty, staff and community members.

Thomas Huffman, a 6th grader here admits, “I don’t usually eat breakfast unless it’s really good and yeah that’s the only reason why I ate breakfast this morning.”

Since September this has become a tradition. Faculty and staff set their alarms earlier to make sure the kids are full, engaging in class and ready to take on the weekend. Superintended Rich Satterlee says, “Our kids oftentimes come in hungry and getting a bite to eat means their bellies are full and it’s a lot easier to learn when your stomach is not growling.”

This opportunity is giving students and staff something to smile about and this is giving students a lesson in service. These students and staff are proud to be Wildcats. “I wouldn’t trade these kids or this community for the world,” says Satterlee.
