TCAPS Board of Education Chooses Search Firm for New Superintendent

The Traverse City Area Public Schools’ Board of Education took the first step Monday night in its search for a new superintendent.

The board decided on a search firm to help them find interim Superintendent Jim Pavelka’s replacement.

They chose Hazard, Young, Attea and Associates.

The board says they heard great things about this consulting firm and are hopeful they’ll help find the right fit for the district.

The board did not use a search firm last time they hired a superintendent.

One of the main priorities they looked for was a group who would incorporate the community.

“I’ve heard loud and clear that the community want to have their input. They want to be heard. They need to be heard because their voices are so important” said Erica Moon Mohr, a TCAPS board trustee who was also on the search task force for the board.

The board’s goal is to have a new superintendent by July 1.
