New State Program to Teach K-12 Students About Great Lakes and How to Protect It

A new program from the state of Michigan hopes to teach kids about our Great Lakes and how people impact the water.

The initiative is called From Students to Stewards.

It collaboration between the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy, the Michigan Department of Education and the Michigan Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity.

Organizers say they intend to teach students of all ages about water resources and policies.

Schools can apply for grants up to $10,000 to try out the toolkit and give feedback.

The deadline for schools to apply is March 9.
