Father Fred Collecting Donations for 26th Annual Frostbite Food Drive

A winter tradition continued this weekend in Traverse City.

The Father Fred Foundation kicked off its 26th Frostbite Food Drive on Saturday.

Father Fred helps feed more than 60 families this time of year.

Good Samaritans stopped by Team Bob’s to drop off non-perishable food items like rice, soup, peanut butter and more.

The charity is also collecting money to assist the families in other ways…

One organizer says the community comes through year after year to help out.

They say winter presents its own challenges for low-income families.

“It’s a great outpouring of support from the community helping our neighbors in need, says Advancement Manager Elaine Keaton.

“This can be a really tough time of year for a lot of people.”

Father Fred will be collecting food through Feb. 2.
