U.S. Treasury Issues 20-Year-Bond: 1st Time Since 1986
The U.S. Department of the Treasury is bringing back a bond it hasn’t issued in more than 30 years.
It will issue a new 20-year bond in the first half of the year.
The U.S. deficit surpassed $1 trillion last year for the first time since 2012.
The treasury secretary says bonds are a way to finance the government at the least possible cost to taxpayers over time.
