Leelanau Samaritans Closet Grand Opening at New Location

Last spring, the Samaritans Closet and Leelanau Christian Neighbors merged.

Tuesday was the Samaritans Closet Grand Opening in its new location, giving the community a place to donate unwanted items.

They accept everything from large pieces of furniture to board games.

They are open Tuesday through Friday from 10 to 4, and 10 to 2 on Saturday.

Executive Director Mary Stanton says all the money earned through re-sale at the Samaritan Closet goes back to people in need.

“When people have items that they don’t want anymore it is very convenient for them to bring them here, it is in their community, and we then recycle them by selling them at a very low cost and then all that money that we earn from donated items goes back into the community,” she says.
