Man Arrested After Stabbing Wife and Leading Police on Chase in Cheboygan County

State police say a man is in custody after stabbing his wife and then leading officers on a chase.

Tuscarora Township police were investigating an assault Saturday night between a husband and wife near Indian River.

They say the husband stabbed his wife while they were in their SUV.

She then tried to run away but troopers say he chased her down, continued to attack her and then drove off.

Police say they tried to pull him over but he led them on a chase and avoided spike stripes.

A trooper was eventually able to force him into a ditch by performing a PIT (Precision Immobilization Technique) maneuver.

MSP says the man is now in the Cheboygan County jail for running from police and driving while drunk.

They are also seeking additional charges for assault.

Troopers say the woman underwent emergency surgery and is expected to make a full recovery.
