Kalkaska School Board Approves Paid Leave for Superintendent Facing Charges for False Accusations

In this update, the Kalkaska School Board approved paid leave for their superintendent while he’s facing charges for making false accusations.

The charges stem from Terry Starr’s time as a principal in Elk Rapids.

Starr will not get any back pay.

Prosecutors say in 2018 Starr wrote letters to school administrators that falsely accused an employee of sex crimes.

Felony charges were dropped last week and he now faces two misdemeanors for intentional false report of child abuse and false report of a misdemeanor.

Starr has denied writing the letters.
