DNR Increases Recreation Passport Cost by $1; First Time in 7 Years

For the first time in seven years, the Michigan DNR is increasing the cost of year-round access to state parks and other recreation opportunities.

The recreation passport is moving from $11 to $12 starting March 1.

They say the $1 increase is designed to keep pace with inflation—part of a rule established in 2010.

The $12 cost breaks down to $1 a month—providing year-round access to more than 100 state parks and recreation areas, 140 state forest campgrounds, hundreds of miles of state trails, historic sites, boating access sites and more.
