Ardis Missaukee District Library Could Take Ownership of Land, Building for $1

The Ardis Missaukee District Library in Lake City could soon take over ownership of its land and building from the county for just $1.00.

The library has been leasing the land and building from the county for $1 per year for the last 20 years.

The county administrator says the transfer means the library would handle any needed repairs or other issues that come up.

She says it’s a move that fits for both sides.

“With us being in the middle, bidding for any kind of improvements had to go through the county versus them handling that directly, and there’s a number of restrictions that were imposed on the deed regarding maintenance of the library that are very particular,” said Missaukee County Administrator Precia Garland.

County commissioners will discuss the move further at their meeting Tuesday.
