Amazing Northern Michigan Homes: Curran Sportsman Dream

It’s a sportsman’s dream situated on 400 acres with over 400 more that can be purchased with it.

“That’s exactly what it was built for, for a hunting lodge,” said broker with RealEstate One Mio Thomas D. Kann. “The owner had several businesses down state and he’s acquired several friends through the years that he’s been in business and so they all come up here and do the hunting.”

It’s everything you could ask for in a true Northern Michigan hunting lodge.

400 acres of land complete with streams and ponds for fishing, hunting blinds set up for deer, bear, and turkey, and after the hunt a 5,400 square foot lodge built with massive timbers to relax and swap stories in.

“They’re Montana logs 16 inch inches diameter, overall it’s a beautiful setup,” he said. “You don’t find too many homes in Northern Michigan that uses the Montana log. That’s because of the size of them, that’s where you have to go to purchase these. The way it’s taken care of, the way it’s varnished, the way it shines. And the square footage, you just don’t find these size of homes in northeastern Michigan and of course the acreage is a big plus.”

The spacious lodge has four bedrooms and four bathrooms, a large kitchen and game a room.

And what kind of hunting lodge would it be without a sports bar?

Above the living room is a loft set up to sleep six but this property can host much larger groups, between the lodge and the two other guest houses there are 26 beds in total.

Kann said “we have a guest cottage that sleeps nine. It’s kind of setup like a motel and we have a bunk house over here that sleeps several others with living quarters, bathrooms, bedrooms.”
When it comes time to feed all of those hungry hunters…

“There’s a commercial kitchen in the garage out there,” he said. “When you have a big group you’re going to need someone to be able to take care of them so there’s a big commercial kitchen out there in the garage area. Very nice, all heated.”

From the mess hall to the mounts, this rustic retreat is sure to be a sanctuary for any sportsman.

“It’s a neat setup because of all of the hunters that want to hunt. There’s clubs all in this whole area, hunting clubs and this is one of the nicer ones around,” said Kann.
